Quoting CRSQA/USAEyes 'certified' surgeon Dr. Stephen Brint's LASIK website about the complication of dry eye after LASIK:

http://www.seewithlasik.com/docs/lasik-dry-eyes.html
Quote:
Fortunately, virtually all Dry Eyes symptoms after LASIK are temporary and gradually decrease over time until they end within a few months of having your LASIK procedure.

Quoting the FDA:

http://www.fda.gov/cdrh/LASIK/risks.htm
Quote:
Some patients may develop severe dry eye syndrome. As a result of surgery, your eye may not be able to produce enough tears to keep the eye moist and comfortable. Dry eye not only causes discomfort, but can reduce visual quality due to intermittent blurring and other visual symptoms. This condition may be permanent. Intensive drop therapy and use of plugs or other procedures may be required.

LASIK surgeon Dr. Stephen Brint's statement, of course, has been demonstrated in multiple studies to be untrue. The FDA had it right. LASIK dry eye can be permanent. When it is, it's a living hell.

From Brint's website:

http://www brintvision.com/about/intralase.php?about=intralase

Quote:
The singular benefit is that, by replacing the microkeratome blade with the IntraLase laser, complications may be practically eliminated and visual outcomes will be improved.

Read the truth about Intralase at:

and

6. Do you have night vision problems? If yes, please describe:

7. Do you have dry eye problems? If yes, please describe:

Note how Brint is documenting pre-op night vision complaints and dry eyes. Why? So he can say the patient with large pupils already had night vision complaints? So he can dismiss patients with post-op severe dry eyes?

Quote:
6. Do you consider yourself to be an easy-going person and adaptable to change?

7. Do you feel that good vision without glasses is more important to you than perfect vision with glasses?

This is how I interpret these two questions:

6. Are you perfectly content to wear smudged, scratched glasses with a script that is outdated and inaccurate? Are you able to tolerate dried out, dirty contact lenses?

7. Are you going to be satisfied when you realize your vision after LASIK is not as good as it was with glasses?

Now here's something you can feel good about:

Quote:
CRSQA Certified
This distinctive qualification deems Brint Custom Vision as a facility whose practices and techniques meet and exceed the criterion for Refractive Surgery specified by the Council for Refractive Surgery Quality Assurance (CRSQA). This certification is awarded only to surgeons such as Dr. Brint, which surpass the strict standard of surgical outcomes required to meet and maintain CRSQA certification.

There is no evidence that a surgeon who pays for a CRSQA certification is better than other surgeons. The organization misleads patients. The certification is bought and paid for. It's not "an award".

The CRSQA organization is run by a man who harasses, threatens, and lies about LASIK patients with complications. He even put up a hate site about patients who have been permanently visually impaired by LASIK who are vocal about the risks of LASIK.

When Glenn Hagele began threatening damaged patients, the Chairman of the organization Dan Durrie resigned, stating:

"Glenn has not been representing the board in his legal action and has not discussed his tactics with me. I was very surprised by his e-mail stating his plans to do so. Due to his comments to do so, I have notified him that I am resigning from the board. I am only interested in helping patients. -
DSD"

See what one surgeon who is certified by the organization says:

"In one sense, any layperson can go out and set up an organization
similar to what Hagele has done. There is no way to prevent an
organization from simply being a rubber stamp, 'Good Housekeeping
Seal of Approval' for payment."

And what a prominent non-CRSQA surgeon says:

"First - there is absolutely no relationship between myself and Glenn
Hagle or CRSQA. I am a refractive surgeon, and I have no interest in
being CRSQA certified. CRSQA certification is a waste of money, and
there is nothing that suggests that there is any difference between a
surgeon who has CRSQA certfication or not."

Even CRSQA's own Dr. Richard Lindstrom seems to have a low opinion of Glenn Hagele and his activities:

"I believe this has become a no win tar baby. When founded by Dan Durrie the charter of this group (CRSQA) seemed reasonable. Now it has deteriorated into a Bagdad (sic), Iraq type scene where there will be no winners, just all losers. I suggest we stay away. It has become a lose/lose and is now very personalized. Glenn seems to see himself as a white night crusading for Laski (sic) [snip]. ....***** ****** is not ASCRS friend, nor at the moment is Glen Hagele. None of this is good for the field or ASCRS. Stay as far away as you can."

Glenn Hagele stated his intent to cause the "demise" of visually impaired LASIK patients who are vocal critics of LASIK. In explaining his insane behavior he stated:

"There is a lot of method to my madness, but it all comes down to
Divide and Conquer."
