Hi, I am new to this forum. This forum has been great explaining the risks and complications.

I had custom wavefron LASIK with microkeratome cut flap on Aug 29th.
I was nearsighted with -7.25 D and weak astigmatism, and cornea thickness 554micron. I have about 300micron left below the flap.

Unfortunately, I discovered this forum only after the surgery, otherwise I would have done PRK.

I have some side effects, such as dry eye and halos and weak starbursts.
I didnt have dry eye before surgery and I am 40.

The irritation of the eyes gets worse in the afternoon.
I tried many eye drops, and most of them dont provide lasting relief.
There are only 4 drops that give me a longer relief, of about 2-4 hours.

One is Similasan, but I wont use it anymore because it has mercury.
But it did work 5 times I used it, giving about 2hr relief.

The best relief for me so far is Optique 1 from Boiron.
The active ingredients are: Cineraria maritima, Euphrasia officinalis,
Calendula, KCl, CaF2, MgCO3, and Silcea.

I am curious if this drug has any negative side effects or
potential hazard. To me it looks OK. My doctor never heard about it,
but Ill call him back tommorrow to ask again.

I am hoping the halos and dry eye improve.

Euphrasia officinalis is an herb also known as 'eyebright'. No idea if it is beneficial.

Calendula is actually the familiar 'marigold' and is used in herbal remedies to heal wounds and soothe skin. Does it work, and if so how well? No idea.

KCl is potassium chloride, to make the solution salty at a level resembling tears.

Calcium fluoride (CaF2) is also known as fluorite or fluorospar and is a mineral. No idea what this is for.

MgCO3 is magnesium carbonate. No idea what this is for.

Silcea? Do you mean silica? There could be silica gel to make the preparation smooth and comforting.

I'm certainly not the best person, or even a GOOD person  to ask about the best formulations for eye drops. I would say Dr. Frank Holly is the leading expert in that area.
