Robert Latkany, MD quote:

"Although there is a greater awareness of dry eye nowadays?thanks to increasing lifespans but more stressful lives, as well as the growth of eye procedures such as LASIK and blepharoplasties?the condition deserves even more attention, Dr. Latkany said."

?I have patients from around the world. They?re desperate and crying out for help,? he said. ?It?s borderline scary. Numerous times I?ve heard people say they want to commit suicide. To the eye doctor, [dry eye] is just a nuisance [when], in fact, these patients are really suffering.?

I remember hearing about a dry eye suicide after eye surgery several years ago... it wasn't LASIK... I can't recall now which procedure it was. I remember it was a woman, and she suffered for a long time. Ron Link would remember it well. I think he spoke to the woman's husband after her suicide.

Dry eye is a serious painful condition. Only the LASIK industry downplays dry eye because they cause it. The rest of the world takes it very seriously.

I live with dry eye pain every day. Sometimes I can barely stand the pain. And it's been nearly 7 years since LASIK. I think it actually gets worse instead of better. I don't know how I'll manage as I get older and it gets even worse. I recently had a corneal staining test, and my OD said, "Your corneas are pretty beat up" (corneal erosions).
