Louis E. Probst, MD:

This patient is clearly developing ectasia after LASIK. The initial postoperative results were good up until the 9-month follow-up visit.

The most important step in this patient's care is to "kill him with kindness." The statute of limitations for medical liability may not have expired in some states.

Clearly Dr. Probst does not have the patient's best interests at heart. He also represents the following special interests:

Louis E. Probst, MD, serves as Medical Director, TLC The Laser Eye Centers in Chicago, Madison, and Greenville, Illinois. He is a consultant for Advanced Medical Optics, Inc., TLCVision, and Intralase Corp. Dr. Probst may be reached at (708) 562-2020.

TLC, 'VISX' (AMO) AND Intralase? My God, is he also a neo-NAZI?

Do feel free to give 'Dr. Probst' a call and let him know how you feel about his remarks about dealing with post-LASIK ectasia patients. These patients may need a large settlement to survive financially, yet he openly recommends schmoozing them until the statute of limitations to sue expires in their state. Monstrous.

Some insurance companies deny claims for corneal transplants for patients with post-LASIK ectasia on the basis that the condition was caused by an elective surgery. If the LASIK industry won't compensate its casualties, the patients can't work because their vision is ruined and the insurance industry turns its back... what happens to these patients?

Please don't expect them to sit back and go blind quietly.
