I received a letter at my home from CRSQA 'certified' surgeon Dr. Robert K. Maloney's attorneys. In part it claimed that his patient, comedian Kathy Griffin, damaged her own eyes. I will ask someone to put the letter up on the web so that we can give you all a link. It's absolutely unbelievable.

As many of you are aware, Kathy Griffin, LASIK patient of Dr. Robert K Maloney, lost much of her vision in one eye due to epithelial ingrowth.

Epithelial ingrowth is a complication that is rare after first LASIK surgeries and more common after 'enhancements', because ripping up the flap leaves ragged edges and there is more opportunity for epithelial cells to migrate into the LASIK interface after 'enhancement' surgeries.

Epithelial ingrowth can cause substantial vision loss - which is what Kathy Griffin experienced.

I cannot even fathom how her surgeon's attorneys could claim that Ms. Griffin damaged her own eyes! Did she give herself an enhancement???

Did she receive proper informed consent from Dr. Maloney about the risk of epithelial ingrowth after LASIK 'enhancement' surgery? Did he even tell her that 'enhancement' surgeries are NOT FDA approved?

For Dr. Maloney, through his attorneys, to provide this sort of medical information to ME about Ms. Griffin's medical condition is unprofessional, but may also be a Hippa violation. We'll have to check on that!

Gosh, patients damaging their OWN eyes! That HOME LASIK just HAS to stop!

We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark. The real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light. -Plato
