Oh yeah, I've had a bad outcome. I went to The Wang Vision Institute to get the best care in the SE USA, and it has now been over a year since my bladeless LASIK procedure, and I still need glasses, have halos, glare, double vision and artifacts... I don't know why I had such a bad result, but if anyone out there is thinking about LASIK all I can say is "don't do it."

On the upside, I met the very nice "Robin Williams" of this forum. I think!

My name is Camille and I would like to introduce myself to the forum. I hope all of you out there do not suffer a bad outcome. If anyone has any opinions on PRK "enhancement", pls feel talk about it because that is my next option...

Take care! =)

amdee,

Welcome to LASIK FLAP. I'm very sorry to hear about your bad outcome.

Speaking of "bladeless LASIK", I assume you've read the forum devoted to this type of LASIK:

http://lasikflap.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=15

Personally I would NOT recommend a "PRK enhancement" because it's not FDA approved, there is no hard evidence to demonstrate it's "safe and effective", and they use a controversial, toxic substance called MMC which kills the cells of the cornea to prevent haze.

Feel free to ask questions. We welcome your participation.

Dear Amdee;

Don't get involved in any more invasive procedures. You may be going from the "frying pan into the fire." As I have written on this forum previously, there are a number of high tech specialty lenses specifically designed for post-refractive surgical complications. Find an optometrist who specializes in corneal rehabilitation and see what he/she can do for you. You can always have the surgery later on if you are dissatisfied with the results of these specialty products.

Very sorry about the circumstances that brought you here. Your story serves as a reminder that no LASIK surgeon who is still practicing LASIK should be trusted as a rehab specialist.

By now every eye care professional should know that LASIK is a bad surgery. The fact that Dr. Wang is still willing to practice LASIK and create casualties, yet presents himself to the casualty community as a rehab specialist - is unacceptable.

In my opinion, Dr. Wang is willing to lure damaged patients and bill them for 'services' but has no effective treatment to offer.

Your best bet is to seek the care of a contact lens fitter with experience in fitting lenses on post-surgical corneas.

P.S. Amdee (Camille)...
You're not talking about Robin Williams the comedian are you?

Why PRK ?enhancement?? Why not re-lift the LASIK flap? The stromal bed too thin?

What will PRK do to the LASIK flap? Will the flap end up partially removed or with buttonhole? Will it increase the risk of epi-ingrowth?

The risk of PRK ?enhancement? is just too high in my opinion. How about get a second opinion and see whether PRK is really indeed the best possible surgical option.

First, do no harm?. I would suggest trying out the contact lens route first before any more surgery.

The following link will give you some info about PRK risks, such as the loss of Bowman?s layer, haze, UV problem,
MMC (poison), etc. http://www.lasikflap.com/forum/viewtopi ... sc&start=0

Best regards

Hey yo, amdee, listen. First of all, mad props to you for hangin' in there.

You seem to be taking the whole thing rather well.

Don't forget who you are.

Once you make the turn down the wrong path, there ain't no turnin' back.

Remember... keep smilin' and hang on. Don't ever forget.
